CHRISTMAS LAYAWAY PROGRAM!

We are offering a CHRISTMAS layaway program, whereas if you are waiting for a bonus, or not comfortable putting a gecko under the tree for 3 weeks  ( J )---We will keep it here for you, completely setup and ready to go, and we feed the animal until Christmas....make sense? 



option 1-Layaway- 25% non-refundable deposit, includes all substrate, food, lamps, tank and critter etc. we will keep it here for you – final 75% due by Dec.24th. 


Option 2-HOLD under our tree program?- 100% payable upon decision, we will completely set up the animal all you need to do is pick it up when you are ready…snakes eat once a week, and other critters typically every other day ( crickets), we will house and feed the animal until Christmas, it will not be available for anyone to see or choose from.

WE NEED YOU! We all know the current state of the economy and face similar day to day troubles, but sadly if we don't have you, we have nothing. I have put this off for some time, but the sliding scale does not lie.


If things don't change, we can't be here for you any longer. I hate to beg, but every little bit helps, and if you like us, love us or even flag us on craigslist, we want to see you again, or for the first time!

We are fully stocked on a wide variety of Healthy Reptiles and Amphibians ( as usual), with prices better than petco or petsmart, even our feeders are better if not cheaper than most...what more could you want from a specialty store? I understand we don't all need reptiles, and as some of us unfortunately transition from house to apartment, it becomes more difficult to house them, but won't you please just come say hi!? :)

Herps - reptiles and amphibians

Reps - reptiles

Viv - vivarium

CGD - Crested gecko diet

Impaction - This is where a reptile eats something that is too big and it gets stuck in them, This can often cause serious illness or death.

Gravid - Gravid is another way of saying pregnant except they carry eggs rather than babies (there are a few exceptions)


Hemipenes - The copulatory organ of a male snake or lizard

Arboreal - Lives in trees or bushes.

Terrestrial - lives on the ground

Fossorial - Burrowing

Morph - The color and patterns of a species

Het - (Heterozygous)The colors and patterns of a species which the parents had but the offspring does not show, only carries.

Brumation - The reptile equivalent of hibernation.

Aestivation - Aestivation is similar to hibernation. If hibernation is to be called "winter sleep," aestivation may be with it's equal , called "summer sleep." In zoology, it is defined as a state of reduced metabolic activity in which certain animals become inactive. It is a resting interval associated with warm, dry periods in areas that have alternating wet and dry seasons. Animals are induced to aestivate when drought and heat interfere with their activities.

Crepuscular - most active dawn and dusk

Nocturnal - most active at night

Diurnal - most active during the day

Phenotype - the make up of the appearance of the animal

Genotype - the make up of the insides of the animal

Albino - Missing at least one pigment

Amelanistic means "lacking black pigment"

Anerythristic (aka - Anery )
Anerythrism is the elimination of red.

Hypo - means "reduced" when you're talking about pigments

Hyper - means "extra" when you're talking about pigments

Melanin - black pigment

Erythrin - red pigment

Xanthin / Xanthic - yellow pigment

Leucistic - White body, dark-pupilled eyes; these produce melanin.
